Health and Safety

Cold Spring School recognized the importance and benefits of having children physically at school and having our community back together. We are currently open full time with extended day. Our team of physicians on the school’s Pandemic Response Team (PRT) continue to guide us as we work through every detail ensure that our school is taking all possible steps to keep our faculty, staff, and students safe. The policies listed in our 2022-2023 Health and Safety Guidelines are based on current recommendations and best practices based on available data.

Children and adults are now eligible for vaccination against COVID-19.

COVID-19 Testing Site Locations

*For locations that require insurance information, if it is asymptomatic testing, there is a possibility insurance will not cover. Please discuss with your health insurance provider prior to testing. 

*Other locations classified as farther from New Haven.

NEW: Community Health Center (CHC) at Hammonasset Beach State Park, 1288 Boston Post Rd, Madison, CT! Free COVID tests will be offered seven days a week 8:30am – 4pm. Lines may close early if demand exceeds our ability to test everyone in line before closing at 4 pm. All ages can be tested and no appointment is necessary. Drive in or walk up. Questions? Fair Haven Clinic  (374 Grand Ave New Haven) Free, no prescription, PCR covid testing for all ages. Asymptomatic testing. Appointment required, call 203-871-4179  for appointment. Typically 2-4 days for test results. Quicker results through mychart.

Cornell Scott Hill Health Center (New Haven- Columbus Ave & Dixwell Ave locations) Free, no prescription, PCR covid testing for all ages. Asymptomatic testing. Appointment preferred, but walk-ins accepted, book by calling 203-503-3000. Typically 2-4 days for test results. 

CVS/Minute Clinic (Hamden, North Haven, Ansonia, Cheshire & Guilford) No prescription needed, PCR covid testing for ages 12 and older. Limited rapid test available daily. Appointment required through the website, insurance information needed. Screening done during the appointment process to qualify for testing. Typically 2-3 days for test results. Quicker results through mychart.

Walgreens (Orange and 7 other locations) Free, no prescription, PCR covid testing for ages 3 and older. Limited rapid test available daily. Appointment required through the website, screening done to qualify for testing. Typically 3-5 days for test results.

Docs Urgent Care (East Haven, Hamden, North Haven, Orange, West Haven and 12 other locations) No prescription needed, PCR and rapid testing for ages 2 and older. Insurance information required, walk-ins only. For rapid testing, must return 30mins later for results. PCR testing typically takes 5-10 days for result. 

PhysicianOne Urgent Care (Derby, Hamden and 14 other locations) No prescription needed, PCR, rapid, and antibody covid testing for ages 3 and older . Insurance information required, schedule an appointment through the website. Typically takes up to 5 days for results, for instant access to results sign up for myquest (information on website). 

Griffin Health (Derby) Prescription from your PCP required. Insurance information required. PCR covid testing for all ages. Call 203-437-6815 to schedule an appointment once you have your prescription. Typically 1-5 days for results. 

Yale Free testing for all ages through Yale Health System. Locations throughout the state. Simple scheduling through link provided.

GoHealth Urgent Care (Cheshire, Meriden and 2 other locations) No prescription needed, limited daily PCR, rapid and antigen covid testing for ages 2 and older. Insurance information required, schedule ahead through the website due to daily limited testing availability. Results are typically available in 3 days.

Yale New Haven Health (Available at YSC, SRC, Bridgeport hospital, Milford campus & Greenwich hospital) Prescription required. PCR testing for all ages. Information provided through the link for your MD to get a prescription in for testing, then YNHH will call you to schedule. Insurance information required. Typically takes 5-7 days for results. Access to results through mychart also.

AFC Urgent Care (Shelton, Bridgeport, Fairfield) No prescription required, insurance information required. PCR, rapid, saliva, and antigen testing for all ages. Make an appointment through the link provided. Test results turn around depending on the type of test, though, typically 2-4 days.

Progressive Diagnostics (Shelton) No prescription required, insurance information required. Saliva and antigen testing for all ages. Symptomatic, pre-procedure and travel testing provided. Book an appointment online through the link provided. Typically 72 hours for test results through a HIPAA compliant online portal.

Community Health Care Inc. (Meriden, Norwalk, New Britain and 9 other locations) No prescription required. PCR covid testing for all ages. Asymptomatic testing. Appointment not required but advised to pre-register online through the link provided. Typically 2-3 days for test results through their online patient portal- instructions given to set-up your portal after your covid testing appointment. Visit the website for a list of ‘Mobile Testing locations’ scheduled until the end of the year. 

Stony Creek Urgent Care (Orange & Branford) No prescription required, insurance information required. Asymptomatic testing. PCR covid testing for all ages (as long as the child tolerates well, or they will not do it). In-person or online virtual appointment required prior to scheduling for covid testing. Anywhere from 24hrs to 7 days for results, results given via phone call.
