Cold Spring School: Self-Portraits
|
|
The self-portrait lesson often begins the art year at Cold Spring School. Young children learn math concepts as they divide the facial oval into quadrants for the placement of their eyes, nose and mouth. Colored construction paper, chalk, oil pastel, and water color paint are used in a deliberate sequence by each child to “build” their self-portrait. It is fun for children and teachers to notice the changes in their physical features and artistic skills through the years. |
