Cold Spring School: Cave Paintings

This art project was inspired by the 5/6 class thematic study of human development over time. The students studied prehistoric art and cave paintings and then created their own version using a 12 x 12 piece of masonite board painted with gesso mixed with sand to simulate the texture of a cave wall. From there, they used charcoal to draw an animal of their choice—a common cave painting motif—on their "wall."
