 Wild Aster

The white flower heads are on the purple-tinged stem. You will find wild aster in dry or moist fields.

 

 Bladder Campion

Bladder Campion has balloon-like pods. Its white flowers come out in the spring.

 

 Chicory

This plant has a stiff stem and blue flowers.You will find it in fields and on roadsides. The roots are ground up and used as coffee.

 

 Clover

Clover is a purplish-pink flower that rabbits like to nibble on. But WATCH OUT! bees love to hang out on this flower.

 

 Globeflower

A greenish-yellow is at the top of a leafy stem. It lives in moist meadows or in swamps. It is a native plant and is listed as an endangered species in eight eastern states of America .

 

 Grasses

The grass family includes herbs, rarely woody, with cylindrical jointed flowering stems which is hollow between the joints.

 

Honeysuckle

Mostly shrubs and somtimes vines or herbs, honeysuckle flowers are sometimes white or yellow. The nectar of the flower tastes slighty of honey. Snowberries, Honeysuckle and Elderberries are grown as ornamentals. It is a native plant.

 

 Milkweed

Milkweed is usually shrubs, herbs or vines with thick milky juicy. It is a deep pink flower clustered at the top of a tall branching stem bearing many flowers.

 

 Onion Grass

Onion Grass sometimes looks like space pods if it is not picked. But it regularly looks just like a spiky ball. They call it Onion Grass because it tastes like onions YUCK!

 

 Peppergrass

In the colonial days pioneers used to pick peppergrass and strap it to a stick to make brooms so they didn't have to bring brooms with them.

 

 Queen Anne's Lace

Queen Ann's lace originally came from Europe. It was called Queen Anne's lace because the flower looked so much like lace and Queen Anne had lots of lace.

 

 Trumpet Vine

This vine grows wild all over. It tries to choke out all the other plants. It is not a very nice neighbor!
