Celia Lewis tells us about the many birds that depend on this site. We also investigate plants and critters that live here.

Site 5

Learn about why this site was so important in American history. From Eli Whitney’s muskets, to fire fighting in New Haven, the water at this location has served many purposes. We talk with Bill Brown of the Eli Whitney Museum and Lisa DiFrancesco of the Whitney Water Center. We also look into the plants and animals that live here.

Site 6

This site contains riffle areas and large pockets of still water. Various water quality indicators are examined. We talk to Fox Running, a Quinnipiac Medicine Man, about legends and stories from this area.

Site 7

This site is where it all begins, the headwaters of the Mill River. Hear about the Quinnipiac legend of Sleeping Giant, the unusual birds that can be seen in these woods, and the diverse and plentiful wildlife that lives here. Historian Bob Gryswecz talks about changes in the path of the river and how people have used it.
