· With water erosion,
waves or rain have enough water pressure to lift and drag soil
into their flow, carrying it to a different spot.
· With wind erosion, wind will pick up the soil and carry
it to another spot.
· With human erosion, people hiking, biking or driving
can loosen up the soil.
· Gravity helps with each process of erosion.

Negative Effects of Erosion:
· It drags away lots
of fertile soil
· It can make unwanted gullies larger
· Water that is eroding the soil is not getting into the
ground
· It can clog up rivers
· Fertilizer runoff
Most fertilizers contain nitrogen, this nitrogen can be "fixed"
by some plants with special chemicals (like beans and corn). After
it is "fixed" the plants can feed on it. If this nitrogen
erodes with the soil it can flow into rivers or other bodies of
water. Then the algae or phytoplankton can also feed on it. If
the algae feeds on it, it will grow lots causing a thick mat over
the water. That means that no sunlight can get in to help the
plankton, fish or other living animals stay healthy.
